in oakland after an eight hour police stand off. the s.w.a.t. team surrounded the home on 26th avenue near international boulevard early this morning. in search of the gunman who they say opened fire a few blocks away. six people came out of the house during the stand off by 8:00 this morning the shooting suspect had surrendered. police were alerted to the system after the shooting victims were driven to the hospital. >>> seven men from sacramento county are recooperating tonight. police say the victims were shot as they were leaving a family gathering in the city of galt at around 10:30. witnesses on the scene tell investigators say saw somebody open fire from a passing car. a neighbor says this is not the first time violence has erupted in his neighborhood. >> crazy. we had some incident about five years ago when they had a shooting in the other corner. >> officials say the shooting may have been gang related. all of the victims are expected to survive. >> investigators are looking into whether reckless driving led to a fiery and fatal crash tonight between a motorcyclist and several car

in the next couple of months. nice to see. new video out of oakland where dozens of occupy protesters took ton the streets of the downtown area last night demanding change and damaging several banks in the area. police say nearly 50 protesters vandalized atm machines and smashed that window. they say the window is at the landmark tribune tower, the former home of the oakland tribune. right now, no word on arrests. >>> new this morning, sheriff deputies in napa county are investigating why a deadly officer involved shooting happened. the police tried to pull over a man driving a white pickup truck right around 10:00 last night. the driver refused to stop. then led police on a short chase. at some point authorities say the officers filed shots at the suspect near newell drive and that man died at the scene. right now, not many details why the officers opened fire. we do know no officers were hurt. >>> on the lookout for a suspected bank robber released from jail on a technicality. he is believed to be armed and dangerous. police arrested this man early this month accused of robbing a bank and ho

san rafael. doctors kept here at oakland children's overnight as a precaution. she is expected to be released later today. she's going to be okay. this, after she was shot yesterday morning with a 20-inch crossbow arrow. >> brave little girl. she was crying a little bit, saying it hurt. she wasn't carrying on. >> and that was jeffrey vasullo, who happens to be an archer himself. he rushed to the little girl after she was struck by the arrow yesterday morning. she had been sitting on a life-sized replica of a whale when the arrow entered her left thigh, with her third grade class from san rafael on a field trip. they kept the arrow in her thigh until surgeons were able to remove it here at oakland children's. police are trying to figure out the trajectory, in hopes that it will lead them to the shooter. there are no archery ranges nearby, it should be noted. a neighbor remembers seeing a wounded dear a few months back in that area with an arrow stuck in it, raising concerns in her mind that this might have been intentional. bob redell, "today in the bay." >>> quick check of toda

the oakland coliseum. this camera on a windy day demonstrates how gusty it is because it usually shakes back and forth. right now it looks okay, pretty steady. you can see traffic is moving at the limit as you head towards downtown. we have a couple of things to tell you about at the bay bridge. the metering lights are on so we are starting to see delays in the cash and fastrak lanes. there's also a stall just reported. i just got word of that from my producer westbound 80 by the center anchorage, one lane is blocked. they are working to clear it. they canceled the high wind advisory for the bay bridge. so apparently it's not quite as bad any longer but those other high wind advisories are still in effect. let's go to our maps. this is a live look at the golden gate bridge. traffic looks okay right now out of ma ryan county. caltrans had suspended overnight roadwork because of the wet roads. westbound 580 this is definitely one of our busier spots right now actually starting from 205 out of tracy and you will notice this continuous line of brake li
